French Formula 1 driver Pierre Gasly has solidified his future with the Alpine F1 team by signing a multi-year contract extension. This move ensures continuity for Alpine into 2025, following the team's announcement of parting ways with Esteban Ocon at the end of the current season.

Gasly who is currently in his second season with Alpine finished 11th in the 2023 drivers' championship, narrowly edging out Ocon by four points. Despite a challenging start to 2024, where Alpine struggled with an overweight car, the team has made significant improvements.

These efforts have been reflected in recent performances, with Gasly securing ninth-place finishes in the last two races, and Ocon finishing 10th in Montreal and Spain. Gasly now leads Ocon in the standings by five points to three.

Expressing his commitment to the team, Gasly said, “I feel very much at home with this great team. I enjoy being a real part of both the Formula 1 project and the wider Alpine Cars vision. I’ve been officially here for over 18 months and it has always been the plan to build a long-term project with the team. While on track it’s been a challenging season so far, I remain faithful to the project and I am not going anywhere.”

Gasly emphasized his satisfaction with the team's direction and hard work. "I am happy with the changes made, the hard work, and the direction the team is taking. There is a lot of potential in this team’s personnel and resources. I’m excited for what is to come in the future and right now I’m focusing on the everyday details that we are putting in to improve our performances.”

Despite being linked to other teams, including a potential move to Sauber ahead of its transition to Audi in 2026, Gasly's decision to stay with Alpine was influenced by the departure of Ocon and the desire to continue building a long-term project with the team.

Alpine's team principal, Bruno Famin, expressed his delight at Gasly's contract extension. “The extension of Pierre’s contract with the team is very pleasing. He is a driver with huge experience in Formula 1 and continues to show immense potential on track. For Alpine as a brand, he is a great ambassador and we therefore look forward to continuing our collaboration.”
