Race Summary

Carlos Sainz and Williams on Fire

The warmup lap was absolute drama as Williams Racing driver Carlos Sainz's car didn't move an inch while all the other cars circled around the Austrian track. The warmup lap was called off, and other drivers were frustrated as they had to start again in 10 minutes. The Stewards somehow sent Sainz out, and the Spaniard was asked to start from the pits. But as he approached the line, his car's rear brakes caught on fire, and he was out. It further extended the race time, and the total laps were reduced to 70.

Opening Lap Drama

The race start was stunning as Piastri took the lead over Charles Leclerc and started attacking his teammate Lando Norris. Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli tried to get to the inside but braked late and took out home driver Max Verstappen. The Dutch fans were disappointed to see their favourite driver out of the race earlier. Vertsappen wasn't angry at all as he waved to the crowd and patted Kimi gently, and accepted his apologies.

Battle between McLarens

Oscar Piastri started attacking Lando on every side, and the two papaya cars started battling for the race lead. The McLaren garage carefully watched their two drivers battle each other. Piastri went for the lead, but Norris immediately gave a fightback and took the pole position. In the end, McLaren had to step up and call Piastri for a tyre change. They also instructed the australian driver not to take any 50-50 chances in Norris. It was a long and hot race, so teams had to be careful with their strategy and pit stops.

Double points for SauberLando

Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hulkenberg both scored points in the Austrian GP. The Brazilian driver raced against his mentor and manager, Fernando Alonso, for seventh place, but the Spaniard held off his nerves and kept his position. But this is a great result for the future Audi team, and they will be celebrating the points.

Norris wins at Spielberg

Finally, Lando Norris kept his cool and triumphed in Austria against his teammate, Oscar Piastri, who was charging at him from all ends. Though Lando lost some pace because of damage to his front wings, it was enough for him to win the race and get closer to Piastri, the championship leader. Ferrari were never in the race but finished P3 and P4, which is good for their team. The nightmare weekend ended for Red Bull Racing as neither of their drivers scored any points. Also, Max Vertsappen's point streak ended with the crash.
