Ferrari has listened to Lewis Hamilton’s request for a new steering wheel before the upcoming 2025 F1 Japanese Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton is new to Ferrari, and he is getting used to the new car and its features, which are very different from what he used to get in Mercedes. The Seven-time world champion is on a mission to win his eighth world title with Ferrari. But the results after the first two races tell a different story as he was disqualified from the chinese Grand prix, leaving him with the single point which he earned at the Australian Grand Prix.

Ferrari need to give Hamilton the best strategy and race machine as soon as possible to stay in the championship battle. Williams Racing now has more points than Ferrari after the end of the first two rounds. The third round is in Japan’s Suzuka circuit and before that Hamilton gets a key update which gave him all success during his decade long partnership with Mercedes.

New update for Hamilton's Ferrari car

The new update is nothing but a Mercedes inspired steering wheel which is very different to Charles Leclerc’s steering wheel. The Monegasque will continue to use his regular steering wheel which he is used to for the last seven years. Hamilton was quite confused with the steering wheel of Ferrari and he struggled with the controls in both Melbourne and Shanghai.

Now he will get a Mercedes-inspired Steering wheel made only for Lewis Hamilton. It was produced by the Ferrari crew based on Hamilton’s insights and requirements. He modified the clutch paddle, a display that shows engine mode, energy level that was not present in the Ferrari steering wheel before. He also repositioned the hybrid control from the top to the lower section.

This setup is what he used last year when he drove a Mercedes car. So now his muscle memory knows the buttons perfectly, and we could expect no more confusion in the team radio. Lewis Hamilton is a positive guy, so he will keep the failures in the first two races aside and focus on the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix, which he won 5 times before in his Formula 1 career.
