F1’s oldest team Ferrari, made the biggest deal in two decades by signing Lewis Hamilton as the driver from the 2025 season in a multi-year contract. It was not natural for the Italian horse to go for Lewis Hamilton as he has been the biggest rival for almost one and half decades since his debut in 2007.
The British driver was never out of the Mercedes family since joining Formula 1. When he won the world title for McLaren he raced with a Mercedes engine against Ferrari. But anything can happen and everything is possible in Formula 1. Ferrari boss Fred Vasseur signed Lewis Hamilton from Mercedes as soon as he knew the Brit was available from next year. Hamilton wanted a long-term commitment from Mercedes and was denied. So Fred grabbed the opportunity and signed a multi-year deal with him.

Do you know what happened next? Ferrari Shares spiked all over the market and went 6% high in a single day earning them more than a billion. It all happened because of Hamilton and his legacy in Formula 1. At the end of the day who says no to signing a 7-time F1 world champion for their team?
But one man said ‘NO’ and he is none other than Former Ferrari team Principal Mattia Binotto, who is now the team principal for the Sauber and Audi F1 Project. Mattia knows every insight of the Ferrari team and said 'Charles Leclerc was always the driver and should be guided towards winning the title'.

Fred Vasseur Hits back at Mattia
When Mattia Binotto was the team principal of Ferrari, Fred Vasseur was the team principal of Sauber (then Alfa Romeo). After Fred became the Ferrari head he signed Lewis Hamilton and now he defends his new driver. He was asked about signing Hamilton for Ferrari and the French man said, “And I’m not sure that Hamilton would have gone to Sauber. I am happy that so many people have time to comment on our choices, I am focused on our work.” The former Sauber boss added, “When I was at Sauber, I didn't talk about Ferrari.”
But F1 fans are in complete joy to see Lewis Hamilton in Ferrari as it could be his final one in Formula 1 after McLaren and Mercedes. Only Fangio and Michael Schumacher have raced for both Ferrari and Mercedes. Lewis will be the third driver in the history. The Ferrari team also wants to find the missing part in their car to win the Formula 1 title and Hamilton could help them find it. The Brit will also have some new motivation to race in Formula 1, win his 8th world title and break the record of former Ferrari driver Michael Schumacher. So, 2025 will be the most exciting season for everyone.
