FP2 Session Summary

The second free practice session of the 2025 Formula 1 Monaco GP started with a yellow flag. Red Bulls junior driver Iscak Hadjar broke his left rear wheel while passing the Nouvelle Chicane. The session was yellow-flagged, and the marshals cleared the debris.

Then, in the restart, McLaren driver Oscar Piastri crashed his car on the first corner as he followed Leclerc. He broke his front wing, but there is no extensive damage, and Oscar went back to the garage. The track was very narrow and small for these modern racing machines, as many drivers complained about impeding.

At the end of the session, Leclerc, Piastri, and Hamilton finished at the top followed by Lando Norris in P4. The biggest surprise of this session was the two junior Red Bull drivers, Liam Lawson and Isack Hadjar, finishing in P5 and P6, respectively. Their senior drivers, Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda, finished in P10 and P11. This is a huge gap between the two sister teams.

The other drivers inside the top 10 are Fernando Alonso in P7, Alex Albon in P8 and Antonelli in P9. Drivers out of the table are  Vertsappen, Tsunoda, Russell, Sainz, Bortoleto, Bearman, Hulkenberg, Gasly, Stroll, Ocon and Colapinto. Most of the drivers used soft tyres during this session, and we will have one more practice session before the qualifying.
