Amid rising speculation, Red Bull's Christian Horner was recently spotted at the Williams garage, intensifying rumours surrounding Franco Colapinto’s future in Formula 1. Williams boss James Vowles disclosed ongoing discussions with rival teams interested in the young Argentine driver, who has turned heads since joining Williams as a mid-season replacement for Logan Sargeant.

With Carlos Sainz set to replace him at Williams next season, Colapinto’s potential landing spot remains uncertain, but interest from Red Bull has undoubtedly sparked new possibilities. Colapinto’s rapid adaptation and on-track success have marked him as one of the most promising rookies this season.

In five Grand Prix appearances, he has already secured two points finishes, with his lowest finishes being just outside the top ten. His debut at the Italian Grand Prix saw a solid P12 finish, which he matched in the recent Mexico City race, underlining his impressive consistency despite limited preparation time.

Will Colapinto replace Sergio Perez?

Red Bull’s potential involvement hints at broader implications. If Red Bull decides to release Sergio Perez, Colapinto may emerge as a potential candidate to fill that vacancy. Although Liam Lawson has often been cited as Perez's likely successor, Horner’s visit to the Williams garage suggests Red Bull is exploring multiple options.

Audi-owned Sauber also has an open seat, making Colapinto’s talent and availability all the more appealing to teams seeking a driver with fresh potential. The hype surrounding Colapinto has also caught the attention of F1 legend Lewis Hamilton, who shared his admiration for the rookie’s remarkable start in a press conference ahead of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix

“I think he’s done an incredible job, to, last minute, be called upon and thrown into the deep end,” Hamilton said, commending Colapinto’s ability to jump in with minimal preparation. Hamilton even voiced support for Colapinto securing a full-time seat, reflecting the growing sentiment across the F1 paddock for the young driver’s potential.

As Red Bull’s interest unfolds, Franco Colapinto’s next move remains one of the hottest topics in F1. For now, the 20-year-old continues to show his worth, leaving fans and teams alike eagerly anticipating what the future holds for one of the sport’s rising stars.
