The Canadian Grand Prix weekend took a dramatic turn for Zhou Guanyu as the Chinese driver experienced a second crash, this time during the FP3 session. Zhou, driving for Sauber, had already encountered trouble in FP1 when he hit the wall, and his woes continued with another crash in FP3.

Zhou's latest incident occurred as he spun out of Turn 1, slamming into the wall. While the car appeared relatively intact, the impact effectively ended his session prematurely. The team immediately radioed in, and Zhou’s frustration was evident as he exclaimed, “I have no idea what’s happening with the car, the car is so strange man, it locks up all the rears!”

The crash prompted a red flag, halting the session and causing further interruptions for the rest of the grid. Drivers and teams were left scrambling to make the most of the limited uninterrupted driving time. However, the track was cleared within minutes as session restarted in five minutes.

Fernando Alonso and Lando Norris dominated day 1

In the earlier sessions on Friday, results showcased a mix of performances. FP1 saw Lando Norris leading with a time of 1:24.435, followed by Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc. Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen rounded out the top five.

FP2 results highlighted a strong performance from Fernando Alonso, who topped the charts with a 1:15.810 lap time, ahead of George Russell and Lance Stroll. Charles Leclerc continued to show consistency, while Daniel Ricciardo made it into the top five.
