American auto giant GM has announced its entry into Formula 1 with their Cadillac Brand. The US car maker will join their compatriot Haas F1 from the 2026 season. Although, the FIA and F1 has confirmed their joining, the official announcement came yesterday, and the brand celebrated its F1 2026 entry with a new teaser video.
Cadillac is the luxury division of General Motors in the US, and they already participate in many racing events like WEC (World Endurance Racing) in the GTP (Grand Touring Prototype) class. Previously, it was said that they would be entering Formula 1 with the Andretti brand. But many Formula 1 teams objected as they felt it didn't have brand value compared to F1 teams like Mercedes, Red Bull, McLaren and Ferrari.
After that, the FIA rejected their application because F1 is seen as the global leader of Motorsport racing, and Andretti didn't seem to add value to the championship. Then General Motors applied for the 11th F1 team under their name, and finally, they got the nod from FIA, F1 and the rest of the teams. But Andretti will still be part of their team as they appointed Former F1 world champion Mario Andretti as their chief advisor.
Cadillac F1 also set up a research facility in North Carolina, which will be for the engine department. There will also be bases in Michigan, Indiana and the United Kingdom. Initially, Cadillac F1 will use Ferrari engines until the 2030 season, and after that, they will use engines made in America.

The video shows a classic Cadillac road car used in the 1960s, and then the transition happens with the new Cadillac luxury car. Finally, it transforms into a Formula 1 car, and the teaser ends with the Cadillac brand name.
One american brand, GM, enters Formula 1 as a team; their biggest rival Ford also enters F1, but as an engine supplier for Red Bull. The Honda and Red Bull partnership ends in the 2025 season, and after that, Ford will join the Austrian energy drink manufacturer as an engine partner. It will be called as Red Bull Ford Powertrains.
