But we already have some interest from a German brand, which could potentially end Ducati’s reign. BMW is looking to enter MotoGP and is willing to compete against the European and Asian bike brands. BMW to enter MotoGP?

They recently launched their 2025 BMW M1000RR bike and when speaking to the media outlets, they were asked about entering MotoGP. BMW Motorrad's head of racing, Sven Blusch, said they have plans to enter the pinnacle of bike racing very soon. Blush said, “I know we’ve been saying this for a long time, but we’re working on the strategy. The important thing at this point is that decisions cannot be made quickly. We want to set it up in such a way that it is a long-term plan.” By the middle of this year, they will know about entering MotoGP.

Blusch said, “We don't do anything unless it fits into the overall strategy of the board. That is extremely important. We don't want to get in somewhere and then get out again. An important point for Markus and for me too is that it will last for a long time. It should be integrated into our communication and marketing strategy and independent of people on the board or CEO’s. It should be something where everyone understands that it makes sense.”

The 2027 MotoGP season will see new regulations with new bikes and technology. The engine size will be reduced to 850 cc but at the same time increase the power and reliability. It will be the ideal time for BMW to enter the MotoGP series. Ducati is reigning in MotoGP with no competition. Only Aprilia and KTM are giving some level of fight while the traditional Japanese brands like Yamaha and Honda don't have their pace and are struggling. Suzuki has already withdrawn from the sport, while KTM has severe financial struggles. BMW entering the sport will help with some balance in competition and also help the brand expand globally.
