Days after penning a fresh deal with Fernando Alonso Aston Martin has extended their commitments in Formula 1 till 2030. According to media reports, the Silverstone-based franchise has decided to continue its stint in the F1 circuit as the parent company finds F1 a great opportunity.

Two-time world champion Alonso will be with the team until 2026, making him available for the first season in the Honda regime too. The team has also invested a lot of money in their new facility in team headquarters making it clear that they are aiming for a championship.

Aston Martin Lagonda, the company that owns the Aston Martin F1 team, has decided to buy a stake in the team worth almost £20 million. This decision prompted them to extend their sponsorship into the league.

‘F1 has helped us to transform’, says Lawrence Stroll

Speaking at an event at their Gaydon HQ, executive chairman of Aston Martin Lawrence Stroll spoke about the opportunities bought by F1. He said, “Formula 1 has helped transform the nature of the business and give us the performance credentials and credibility by putting it into our road cars.”

“Not only has Formula 1 given us the 2.3 billion viewers that see a beautiful British racing green Aston Martin 24 weekends this season; it’s also brought us a much younger customer to Aston Martin.”

Apart from him Fernando Alonso also expressed his desire to make Aston Martin champions. He had said that his team is very much closer to other top four teams and their performance will surely push Aston to great heights.

He had said, “To be honest, although we didn't start [2024] in the podium positions, we are very close to the top four teams, apart from Red Bull. There are going to be some races where we are more competitive, and some races less, but in the first four races, we introduced new parts of the car - at every race we had an upgrade. This is quite encouraging and nice to see, the team is making progress, it is never quick enough in F1, it is a very demanding sport and environment.”
