Announced: Max Verstappen and Kelly Piquet’s baby will be born this month

Formula 1 driver and reigning world champion Max Verstappen will be a father by the end of this year. The 27-year-old dutch driver and his girlfriend Kelly Piquet announced the news of becoming parents last december. They kept it a secret for many months and only gave the official announcement after the baby bump was visible.

The couple has been in a living relationship for more than 5 years. Kelly, who already has a daughter named Penelope, lives with them in Moncao. The Brazilian Model previously dated F1 driver Danii Kvyat, with whom Penelope was born. Now, she will become a mother for the second time, and Max Verstappen will be the father. Penelope will also be a sister to either a baby boy or a girl.

This doesn't make Verstappen slower, as he will be the same and drive aggressively on the track. A close friend of Max Verstappen has revealed the baby’s arrival during an interview. Former F1 driver and Max’s friend, Van der Garde, said, “ For him, this is something unique to experience. Of course, he already has a little one living in the house (Penelope). So that’s already super fun for him, but yes, it will be exciting. On the other hand, knowing Max, he will be completely focused on this year, on the first few races.”

He also revealed that the couple is expecting the baby in April, and it is just one month from now. He added, “That little one is due sometime in April if all goes well. But yes, he has to do those races anyway.” We still don't know whether Max Verstappen will be available during April.

In April 2025, Max will race in Japan, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia during that period. If he wishes to take off during that time, Yuki Tsunoda will take over as the reserve driver, replacing Max Verstappen. The couple already knows the gender of their child, and we will get to know either its boy or girl after next month.
