Ahead of the upcoming Monaco Grand Prix in Monte Carlo Carlos Sainz and Williams Racings are reportedly looking to exchange some words over possible collaboration. Amid ongoing discussions around Sauber’s offer to Sainz the Ferrari driver is reportedly also in talks with Williams.

It comes after Sainz’s chances to get a seat in Red Bull or Mercedes is fading away. With Red Bull likely to continue with Sergio Perez and Mercedes opting to make Kimi Antonelli, George Russell’s partner Sainz has been left with few options.

According to Motorsports.com before committing to Sauber (Audi from 2026), Sainz is evaluating his prospects at Williams which is also aiming to improve its game by 2026. However, Audi is in a hurry as they want a fast-forward decision from Sainz as they are looking to focus on other things.

Why Williams might be a good fit for Carlos Sainz?

The Williams F1 team already has Alex Albon signed up, and the boss, James Vowles, is making changes to improve their performance. One big advantage they have, which might interest Sainz, is their deal to use Mercedes engines starting in 2026. There's talk that these new engines look very promising.

At the Imola Grand Prix last weekend, Vowles mentioned that the team is doing everything they can to improve quickly over the next few years, even if they aren't doing great right now. He had said, "The 2025 car is in the tunnelit's as simple as that. And you're doing that to get ahead of yourself in time for actually 2026 and 2027.”

“My messaging will continue to be the same: it's not that I don't care about these years [before 2026], but I want us to be successful in the future. To do that, I've got to make some pretty harsh decisions to transform the organisation."
