The race start was crazy in Mugello as pole sitter Marc faced some issues with his bike visor, and unfortunately, the lights went out as he was checking. He was pushed to sixth within minutes, but the Spaniard rescued himself and moved to third at the first corner. At the same time, Morbidelli pushed Brad Binder while taking the corner, and the South African collided with Johann Zarco, ending both their races. Alex started to push Bagnaia to his limits, and the two were fighting for the lead.
Marc Marquez kept himself within the attacking distance and overtook both his championship rivals while cutting the corner, and after that, he never turned back. Fabio Quartararo’s race initially looked promising, but he lost grip and was pushed back by Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi. KTM’s disaster continued as Pedro Acosta had a low side and crashed out of the race. Maverick Vinales was the only promising rider for KTM as he finished in P4, which is a great result for the Austrian team. Marc Marquez has now shown dominance at Bagnaia’s home race, and the Italian will be looking to give a fight back in the main race tomorrow.
