The FP2 of the 2025 Japanese Grand Prix is complete under a lot of red flags. But Oscar Piastri kept it steady for his team and topped the table with the fastest lap. Amid chaos, the McLaren team were fully focused on their race, and its drivers finished in P1 and P2. Most drivers did not have a performance run, as Jack Doohan’s massive crash cost a lot of time. But we expect a McLaren front row tomorrow, followed by Mercedes and Ferrari. Red Bull also has a lot of hope for Max and Yuki.

FP2 Session Summary
Initially, Jack Doohan got the red flag after he crashed massively on the first corner. The Alpine driver did nothing wrong, but his car’s rear gave up while entering the first corner, and he crashed massively into the barriers. Then the veteran driver Fernando Alonso went into the gravel.
Later, a fire brought another red flag to the session. The Sparks from the Formula 1 cars were blown into the dry grass on the side of the chicane, and they caught fire. Totally 30 minutes were lost in the session due to Red flags, and the F1 drivers had only 30 minutes of clear running.
The Suzuka circuit is an old-school driver's track that demands a lot more from the drivers than the car. So, the drivers should be very careful in taking the corners and cutting the chicanes. Lewis Hamilton was very good today as he set the fastest lap time of the session, followed by Isack Hadjar and Lawson. But the two McLaren drivers came back strong and finished P1 and P2. Hamilton also lost his third place to VCARB driver Isack Hadjar.
Again, the session was red-flagged in the final moments due to fire. The wind blew too high, and the fire sparks from the car again ignited the fire on the side of the track. This is now a serious issue as it could cause a huge problem during the race. The race organisers need to do something before the race,e as it could spoil the momentum.
