Iga Swiatek earns Madrid Open redemption after beating Aryna Sabalenka in an intense final match

The Madrid Open finals for the WTA players is finally complete and this was one of the most competitive tournaments we have ever witnessed. All the top rankes players in this tournament were in incredible form and were looking like proper favourites to win. The final match between the top 2 players in WTA Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka were set to play for the tenth time and reignite their rivalry. This was a match that everyone was waiting to witness on who will be the victorious one in the end.

Apart from the rivalry there was another story behind the final match. This was also the second consecutive time Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka were featuring in the Madrid Open finals. The last encounter saw Aryna Sabalenka beat the Polish and win her 2nd title at Madrid. So this final was the moment where Swiatek would finally get her redemption for the Madrid loss. As for Sabalenka she was searching for her first ATP title this season which has been eluding her. this was also the chance to defend her crown against one of her biggest rivals.

Swiatek comes out on top in a thrilling finale

This was the perefect match between two of the best players in the world of tennis. The first set itself set the tone completely but in the end it was Iga Swiatek who broke the service winning 7 games to 5. However, the Belarusian was not going to take it quietly and Sabalenka came back into the match winning the second set 6-4 and keeping her title defence alive. It was all down to the last and final set which saw both the players battle it out one more time. The game finally was to be decided in a tie breaker which was equally thrilling. The match finally ended with Swiatek winning her first title and earning her redemption again.

This was probably one of the best matches in the WTA tour we have ever seen with both the players playing some of the competitive shots and getting ahead of each other continously. This is a brilliant match which went the full distance and we as fans of the game enjoyed it immensely. Swiatek was finally the player who deserved the victory in the end, but we still have to appreciate Sabalenka who gave a great fight to the four time grand slam champion. This was still a tournament which belonged to Swiatek completely where she earned her redemption and proved why she is the number 1 ranked player right now.
