Since 2010, the MITB has been a standalone PLE every year, where there have been different kinds of matches. While some matches could be of titles, and others are of non-titles, the centrestage of the event is the MITB Ladder Match, which gives the winners of the match a shot at any title for a year.

A Money in the Bank Ladder match is a type of match where six wrestlers compete against each other, try to climb up the ladder, and clinch the briefcase hanging at the top in the centre of the ring. Inside the briefcase is a contract that gives wrestlers a shot at any title for 365 days.
