The history of WWE has witnessed some great wrestling superstars who successfully ruled the ring over the years. This list includes the greats from different generations. Meanwhile, there have also been the wrestling superstars who kept ruling the WWE universe defying the factor of age and playing for a long period. 

However, winning the titles and championships in WWE is considered quite special apart from being a consistent great throughout the years. Here we’ll look at the top 5 WWE superstars with the highest number of WWE championships they won in their respective careers.

1. Ric Flair

Former legendary superstar and Hall of Famer Ric Flair was the wrestling great whose name was memorized by every wrestling fan even before World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) came into the picture. He began his career 52 years back in the year 1972. That was the time when he started with the National Wrestling Alliance followed by the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in the later decades. 

Flair is the joint-most successful wrestling superstar in the history of the WWE as he won 16 WWE World titles. He equals this amazing record with the American wrestling superstar John Cena and is jointly claiming the top spot in the list of five WWE superstars with the highest number of titles in championship history. 

2. John Cena

The professional wrestling superstar and actor, John Cena has been ruling the ring since he started his career 25 years ago in the year 1999. In his 25-year-long illustrious career, John Cena is the joint-most successful wrestling superstar in history, alongside the Hall of Famer Ric Flair; both have won the WWE World Championship 16 times. 

The first World Championship Cena won in WWE was 19 years back in the year 2005; following this win, the star wrestler never looked back and has won 16 WWE world championships so far to jointly become the most successful wrestler in the history of WWE. 

3. Tripe H

Former legendary Wrestler Paul Michael Levesque was famously known by his ring name Triple H. He retired from the WWE two years ago in 2022. Triple H was a regular name in the ring of WWE for 30 years after he started his career in the year 1992. 

He registered his first title win in a WWE World Championship 25 years ago and went on to become one of the most successful wrestlers as he won 14 WWE World Championships. He is currently active as the Chief Content Officer for the company. 

4. Randy Orton

Famous for his deadly finishing move RKO, Randy Orton was introduced in the WWE universe 24 years back in the year 2000. Four years after his debut in the ring, ‘The Viper’ won his first WWE World Championship title in 2004. 

Before facing a big downfall in his career two years back in 2022, Orton had already won 14 WWE World Championships and had registered his name into the list of WWE history’s top-5 wrestlers with the highest number of World Championship titles.

5. Hulk Hogan

The prime name of the 70s who still owns a special place in the hearts of wrestling fans, Hulk Hogan ruled the ring for over the decades. The decade from 1970 to 1980 is known as the time of Hulk’s claim to fame in the wrestling industry. He was one of the outstanding performers in the ring during his era. 

After winning his first WWE World Championship title 41 years back in 1983, he went on to clinch 12 titles of World Championship. He is one of the special names in the list of top 5 most successful wrestling superstars in WWE history.
