The WWE is undoubtedly one of the most watched wrestling shows on television. There have been a variety of wrestlers who have made iconic footprints. The likes of Hulk Hogan and Bruno Sammartino are some of the top wrestlers of their time along with being strong and well built. Although we are still getting wrestlers like these in the current era, there have still been wrestlers who have come in certain shapes and sizes. The days when the wrestlers must look big and strong are not the criteria anymore.
So here are the top 10 shortest wrestlers in WWE history:
10. Funaki- 5'7”
Funaki was a Japanese professional wrestler who might have been a decent in-ring performer, but the WWE could not give him the best characters or gimmicks that could be iconic. Funaki still managed to become cruiserweight champion and hardcore champion within the company. Although he had a moderate in-ring career, he made a great career outside the ring as he became a Japanese colour commentator for the company. Even though he stood at only 5 foot 7, he still managed to give some decent matches in the ring.
9. Jamie Noble- 5'7”
Another wrestler who still had great years as a wrestler is Jamie Noble. Noble in his career had mostly been a jobber throughout his career. Jamie came up to the main roster when he won the cruiserweight championship. The most memorable storyline of his was when he was part of the authority. Jamie was part of Seth Rollins J&J security along with Joey Mercury. He might not have made it big in the company, but he was still part of some great storylines in his tenure with the WWE.
8. Rey Mysterio- 5'6”
Rey Mysterio is most likely the most popular short wrestler in WWE. Even after being 5 foot 6, Rey still had some iconic moves that could surprise us. He is also one of the most popular wrestlers in the ruthless aggression era and was the perfect underdog due to his size. Rey Mysterio has won every championship in the company. He is one of the most iconic highflyers and one of the top baby faces within the company. He was also inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame last year, keeping his luchadorian legacy alive even today.
7. Kalisto- 5'6”
Kalisto was another Luchadorian wrestler whom the WWE was trying to push to the limit. Kalisto seemed to have a lot of potential with his wrestling style where he held some big mid-card titles. However, there were a lot of botches and indiscipline that led him to go down the barrel in the future. The company did try to revive his faith as he went on to form a tag team with Sin Cara, but unfortunately, it could not lead to much success in the WWE.
6. Lio Rush- 5'6”
Lio Rush had impressed everyone with his in-ring work in the WWE. The way he used to show off his movie set was amazing. He might not be the biggest wrestler in the company, but he was still a young talent, the WWE wanted to push. Unfortunately for Rush, the locker room and the officials never liked his attitude at all. It is safe to say that Rush destroyed his career which was set to be bigger in the future. Despite being only 5 foot 6, he was still a talented individual who could have given a lot to the company.
5. Drake Maverick- 5'4”
Drake Maverick might not have been an imposing figure in the ring but had some potential to be an iconic character worker. Maverick spent most of his career as a comical character in the company. He was decent in the ring, but in the later half his comical characters became boring. Maverick still became an iconic manager in the company. The best thing he achieved in his career as a wrestler was his run as the 24/7 champion in the WWE.
4. El Torito- 4'5”
El Toritto might not have had a long run in the WWE but was another luchador wrestler who came into the mix and was one of the shortest wrestlers standing at 4’5”. El Toritto did have some decent feuds with the Dudley boys and 3MB, but that was all the company wrote for him. He was soon not performing in the ring and was just acting as a mascot for the Los Matadores. It is safe to say Torrito’s WWE career finished as soon as it started.
3. Hornswoggle- 4'4”
Another short wrestler who was used in the company mostly for comic relief. Hornswoggle stood at 4’4” and did get some bookings where he was the centre of attention. Hornswoggle would win the cruiserweight championship and help Finlay, a successful mid-card wrestler, win the United States champion. In-ring wise though hornswoggle did not really achieve a lot, but it has some weird storylines which are still remembered. The segment where he was announced as Vince McMahon’s illegitimate son and revealed himself as the anonymous general manager were some of them.
2. Doink the Clown- 4'
The gimmick of Doink the Clown was already a weird gimmick which was hot and cold in the era. In order to introduce his 4-foot sidekick was not going to make it any better. Dink the Clown could only Doink in his matches. There was no real reason why he came into the reckoning. Dink never had a major role in the company despite being the shortest wrestler in the company at the time. There are those odd mini-matches where he would feature, which were really underwhelming.
1.Max Mini/ Tzuki- 3'7”
Tzuki or Max Mini might have been a popular figure in Mexico, but his career in the WWE could only last for 3 years. He will still go down as being the shortest wrestler in WWE history standing at only 3 foot 7. Tzuki still made some appearances on Smackdown and even competed in the Junior Royal Rumble in 1998 as well. All Tzuki could do is either play a sidekick to Rey Mysterio or then go missing for the next few segments. Tzuki is still a big figure in the Luchador wrestling fraternity, but he has not used much as either a character or an in-ring worker in the WWE.
