Shawn Michaels claims to have turned down feud against two wrestlers post-retirement

Shawn Michaels claimed that he refused to have a feud with the likes of The Undertaker and AJ Styles after his WWE retirement. The Heartbreak Kid was approached to come out of retirement several times. He left the thought of returning to action after his tag team match with Triple H against Kane and The Undertaker in Crown Jewel 2018 was not received well by the fans.

Shawn was asked about his tag team match against Taker and Kane in an interview. The WWE Hall of Famer said there have been instances where he has been comfortable in having a feud against his opponents. Shawn added that he always expressed the issues if he had any, against some of his opponents.

"'Do you want to do it?' I do. You know, I will say that very comfortably, that there’s always a place there, that’s certainly, you know, issues and held there just in case I wanted to insert in there," said Shawn Michaels in the interview. He then spoke about the instances where he turned down the offer to have a feud with AJ and Taker.

The former 4-time world champion said the only times he turned down the offer to have a feud against certain opponents were against The Undertaker and Styles. The Senior Vice President of Talent in WWE NXT felt he was not in the best shape to deliver a match against either of them when approached for the same.

"But the only ones that have ever actually been asked by the company were Taker and AJ Styles. That’s the only time anybody ever formally, you know, mentioned it, but I turned it down," added Shawn in the interview. 

Michaels is regarded as one of the greatest in-ring performers in the history of Wrestling. At his best, Shawn used to deliver classics one after the other and was hence named Mr. WrestleMania. He left the thought of coming out of retirement due to his fitness issues and illness.
