The match between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes on the main event of Night 2 of WrestleMania XL has been crowned as WWE's match of 2024. The match involved some of the greatest WWE superstars like The Rock, John Cena, and The Undertaker. The Hell in a Cell match between Drew McIntyre and CM Punk finished second in the poll.
The match between Cody and Roman heavily dominated the poll on YouTube, as 71% of the fans voted in its favour. On the other hand, the match between Drew and Punk bagged 29% of votes from the fans. While many believed Drew vs. Punk deserved to be at the top, others felt Roman vs. Cody offered a unique experience.
There were some other matches that were in contention. The likes of Gunther vs. Sami Zayn, Bayley vs. Iyo Sky, Rhea Ripley vs. Liv Morgan, Sami Zayn vs. Chad Gable, Gunther vs. Randy Orton, and Cody Rhodes vs. Gunther got nominated in the polls. But the final two matches in the poll were better than the rest.
What was special about Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes?
On Night 1 of WrestleMania XL, The Rock and Roman beat Seth Rollins and Cody, which led to Night 2 being the Bloodline Rules match. Hence, a lot of wrestlers interfered during the match. Jimmy Uso started the spree by trying to assist Roman.
There was an equaliser by Jey Uso who came to Cody's help. While the duo took out each other, Solo Sikoa came to Roman's help. To neutralize it, John Cena came out of nowhere and delivered an Attitude Adjustment to both Roman and Solo. The leader of the Cenation Army was confronted by The Rock, who delivered a rock bottom.
The undertaker came out of nowhere and delivered a chokeslam to the final boss. Seth sacrificed himself and saved Cody by taking a chair shot from Roman. Rhodes took advantage of the situation and delivered three Cross Rhodes in a row, pinned Roman, and became the undisputed WWE champion.
