On this day in 2016, all members of the Shield held the WWE Championship at one point. It was the Money in the Bank PPV and each member of the Shield had a field day. Roman Reigns came into the event as the WWE Champion. He was regarded as the next big thing in the company back then as a baby face.
His challenger was none other than Seth Rollins, the person responsible for the implosion of the Shield in 2014. In WrestleMania, Rollins had a major cash-in against Roman and Brock Lesnar. The events led to the match between Seth and Roman at Money in the Bank 2016. By then, Rollins had established himself to be the top heel of the company.
Additionally, Dean Ambrose had registered himself in the Money in the Bank ladder match. All three members of the former faction were in major action. It was probably the moment they were all set out to achieve one day. At the end of the night, it was Dean who stood tall. He was the WWE Champion by the end of the night. It was his night for many reasons.
Dean Ambrose's successful contract cash-in
Ambrose won the Money in the Bank ladder match and got hold of the briefcase with a contract for the WWE Championship. Roman had a match with Seth earlier in the night. As per the norm, Rollins ended up having the upper hand against Roman. To date, Roman Reigns has not been able to get the better of the visionary. The star wrestler lost the title to Rollins in the night.
Soon after the match, Dean came in with his Money in the Bank contract. He successfully cashed in the briefcase and pinned Seth to win the WWE title. It was one-of-its-kind, as all the members of the faction held the title on the same night. Since then, the Shield was reunited on a couple of instances. The chances of it happening in the near future seem difficult.
