On this day in 2002, WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) came into existence. Formerly known as WWF (World Wrestling Federation), the company branded itself as a company meant for Sports Entertainment. Nearly, 22 years ago, the Stanford-based company posted a video to confirm the change which had a funny take. The purpose of the video was to let the fans and the world know of the change.
In the video, one can see a person wearing a block of 'WWF' in a bar and asking his colleagues to have a blast. The person would claim 'Cheers' with his beer on, a woman next to him, who would be disgusted by him and turn the face away from him. As the man turns towards his left to talk to another woman, he receives a similar response.

The man further tries to talk with another girl who ignores him. When he asks the fourth woman in the frame, "Have you ever seen a man this big?" the woman in an orange dress smashes the block of the person. The block had 'WWF' in it. The woman would smash the 'F' word from it. The promo would continue to confirm that it is no more 'WWF' and would be known as 'WWE'.
Changes since the announcement of the WWE
Since WWF was changed to WWE, there have been a lot of changes which have happened in the company. It has marked the beginning of the Ruthless Aggression era with new talents like Randy Orton, John Cena, Batista, Brock Lesnar, Rey Mysterio, and others rising to prominence. In 2009, the WWE started to witness the PG Era where the focus was to attract the younger audience.
Finally, in 2024, the PG Era seems to have come to an end, as Triple H and WWE have focused on securing a deal with Netflix. Following the latest collaboration, the company is gearing up to normalize the usage of blood, cuss words, personal incidents in the storylines, new updates, and so on. In Backlash 2024, WWE witnessed its biggest gate ever for an event.
