CM Punk noted the changes in the Stamford-based promotion before 2014 opposed to since 2023, both led by different persons. The Voice of the Voiceless claimed that there have been some good and bad changes in the two different time periods.

The Second City Saint claimed on WGN TV that the pay structure was different when he left the company, as opposed to his current pay. Punk said that his paycheck, personally, depended on him featuring in the main event, which isn't the case since 2023.

"It's good and bad. Like we all make more money now, which is thumbs up. But we, like, my paycheck was always predicated on how many people were in the building. So I was driven towards ticket sales and the business of it. And when you’re in the main events, you get paid more money. And now, everyone’s just kind of on salary," Punk said.

"There’s not the same ambition," - CM Punk

He hence regarded the change to be a mixed bag. The WWE Superstar added that it doesn't matter to him whether he opens or closes the show anymore, as it would not affect his pay, which was not the case before leaving the promotion.

"So I think that’s good and bad. It’s good for the boys. But also, I feel there’s not the same ambition. I always wanted to be in the main event because it got me more money. And now I think it’s — now I don’t care if I’m the opening match, because I’m still gonna make the same. And I can shower and watch the show," Punk added.
