On the September 8 episode of WWE Raw, Jey Uso showed glimpses of a negative character. Backstage on the Red Brand, his twin brother, Jimmy Uso, claimed that he sounded like Roman Reigns. During the brawl against Bronson Reed, Bron Breakker, and LA Knight, Jey speared the latter and was booed by the fans.
Ever since the Clash in Paris, there has been a visible change in Jey's character. As the OTC was taken through the stretcher out of the arena, following vicious attacks from Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker, Jey came to his cousin's help, but the damage had been done enough. Roman had insisted that Jey focus on his Main Event Match.

Jey realized that everyone is for themselves in the hard way possible and has since taken steps in his best interests. On WWE Raw, Jey packed his bags and was about to leave the arena when Jimmy confronted him and reminded him to have Knight's back. Jey said they had no business doing that.
Is Jey Uso a heel or a babyface or a tweener?
Jimmy felt Jey sounded exactly like Roman used to. The younger Uso claimed it might be the way to go forward, as doing things his way was not working for him. Later in the night, he speared Knight to end the show, which led to the fans booing him. Since then, there have been discussions about whether Jey is turning heel or playing the tweener.

When Roman was the world champion, he had once told Jey that being the champion would lead to making tough decisions. After losing the title and not finding an easy way of reclaiming it, Jey might have learnt the hard way. However, Jey might not have outright turned heel, but might not be bothered to rescue other 'babyfaces', meaning a tweener character.
