John Cena posted a cryptic image on his Instagram handle and opened up on the reason behind smiling before losing his retirement match against Gunther. The Leader of the Cenation Army posted the image of Obi-Wan smirking before Vader striking him down. 

It was the same analogy used by Bully Ray for his reasoning behind Cena's smirk before tapping out. On X, Bully gave his take on Cena smiling before tapping out. He claimed that it was similar to Obi-Wan smirking before getting stuck down by Vader. He felt it was symbolic for the need for him to let go for others to rise.

"Obi-Wan smirked/smiled just before Vader struck him down because he accepted his fate and knew in order for others to live…he must die. And thats why John tapped," Ray claimed in his post on X, by posting the image of Cena smiling, along with Obi-Wan's smirk.

Cena justified it with his cryptic image on Instagram, where he posed the exact image. The context confirmed that Bully was indeed right in his assignment. Ray took to X and wished Cena the best for his future endeavors. "Dear @JohnCena May the Force be with You. xo Uncle Bully," the WWE Hall of Famer wrote on X.

Many different analogies were made regarding Cena smiling before tapping out to Gunther. Cena himself clarified the reason, which dates to a Hollywood movie. While the ending of Cena's retirement match has led to a huge criticism from the fans, it has also received a lot of appreciation from the critics and the former wrestlers.
