Dave Metlzer shut down the rumors of a John Cena match in his retirement tour against Edge, aka Adam Copeland. The Wrestling Observer Radio's expert claimed that such a direction has not been discussed in the creative team. Many have wondered about the possibilities of Edge returning to WWE to have one last match with John Cena during his retirement tour, despite him being under an AEW contract.

When asked about it, Meltzer claimed that such a thing hasn't been discussed by the creative team. While he noted that Cena might want to wrestle Edge one last time, Meltzer added that WWE has no plans to make it happen.

"It's like, they already decided what they're doing for Cena's retirement, and it ain't Adam Copeland. They don't want Adam Copeland. Why would they want Adam Copeland to begin with? Cena might want him, but that one's not happening, and there's nothing in that direction," Meltzer said.

"It's got nothing to do with WWE or being Cena's last opponent," - Dave Meltzer on Adam Copeland being written off AEW TV

The rumors emerged when Copeland was written off AEW TV on Dynamite a few weeks ago. However, it was for Edge to complete the shoot for Disney's 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians'. Meltzer said Edge being written off TV has nothing to do with his potential involvement in Cena's retirement tour.

"But I guess people, because of that interview Adam Copeland did about he's leaving, they started talking about maybe he's Cena's last opponent. And I guess some people haven't told people that he just left to do some acting work, and it's got nothing to do with WWE or being Cena's last opponent," Meltzer added.
