Damian Priest defends his title against Jey Uso, thanks to asistance from Finn Balor and JD McDonagh

WWE: Damian Priest defended his world title in Backlash 2024 against Jey Uso, The Judgement Day star was helped by the likes of Finn Balor and JD McDonagh.

The match between Damian Priest and Jey Uso was good and saw the champion defending his title. Damian was assisted by his Judgement Day teammates JD McDonagh and Finn Balor. Jey Uso had an electric entrance. The fans repeatedly chanted 'Yeet' and lit up the torch to give a thunderous welcome to the former member of the Bloodline. 

Jey Uso frustrated Damian Priest by Yeeting all around. Damian however, meant business and took on Jey. The main event Jey tried to dominate the World Champion. Priest escaped the Suicide dive from Jey and the crowd chanted 'Uso'. Jey dominated the match in the first few minutes with Super Kicks. The crowd went wild with repeated chants of 'Yeet'.

JD McDonagh helped Damian with a cheap shot at Uso. Damian was not happy with the assistance. Jey super kicked JD and delivered a Uso splash to Damian. However, Priest kicked out at two. Priest avoided a superkick from Jey and countered with a Razor's edge. Damian aimed for a choke slam, but Jey survived and hit a spear. Jey kicked out at two and the crowd chanted 'This is awesome'.

Finn Balor assisted and Damian cashed in with a South of the Heaven Choke slam. Damian did not realize the assistance from Balor. However, the Judgement Day members were adamant about supporting Damian, just like Priest had the back of his teammates in the past. Damian came up with back-to-back running neck blows. Jey delivered three super kicks in a row. The former tag team champion delivered a spear and a Uso splash.

Thankfully for the champion, JD saved him and avoided a pinfall. Uso delivered a spear to Finn and a suicide dive to JD. Priest cashed in with a South of the Heaven Choke slam from the ropes to retain the title. After the match, JD and Finn tried to take out Jey. But Priest avoided it claiming that it was unnecessary. Instead, he got them on either side to celebrate the win.
