Cody Rhodes was in an interview where he spoke about The Rock trying to steal his WrestleMania spot against Roman Reigns. The American Nightmare maintained the fact that The final boss is one of his favorite wrestlers and he grew up watching him. However, Cody was not happy with the fact that The Rock tried to steal his spot.

Rhodes said that the story between him and Roman Reigns was shaping up well. He felt angry that just because The Rock was a popular personality, he tried to bag his spot. He pointed out a podcast in which two people said that Cody would be happy to step aside for WrestleMania and go after Roman later in the year. The video has gone viral on X.

"A lot of people will say, ‘He’s The Rock, he can do whatever he wants.’ I even saw this fun podcast with two wrestling heads just talking back and forth, and they had said, ‘I’m sure Cody’s fine stepping aside for WrestleMania and then doing it later in the year," said Cody who found it absurd for the people to think he would leave his spot.

Cody Rhodes takes a dig at doubters

Cody won the Royal Rumble 2024 and deserved a title shot. However, The Rock wished to claim the spot. Rhodes added that WrestleMania is like the Super Bowl and he did not want to miss an opportunity to be the headline for which he was completely deserving. Cody Rhodes said that it was wrong for people to think he would sacrifice something for which he worked his whole life.

“And in my mind, I’m thinking, ‘That’s insane.’ That’s the Super Bowl for what we do. To get to the Sunday, the last day of WrestleMania, the last match, is our literal Super Bowl... The idea that somebody thought I would just be cool with it is that they don’t know me. That’s nonsense. I worked my whole life for this," added the American Nightmare in the interview.
