Champion vs champion in King of the Ring and winner takes all

Nick Aldis announced the new challenger for Cody Rhodes on Friday Night Smackdown. The GM of the blue brand kicked off the night by congratulating Cody on his maiden title defense at the Backlash 2024 after a brilliant match against AJ Styles. As the crowd awaited the next opponent of Rhodes, in walked the United States Champion to the surprise of the fans.

Not many anticipated the move as it has been a long time since a mid-card champion faced a world champion in a PPV event. Logan Paul will be up against the American Nightmare in the King of the Ring which will be a champion vs champion winner takes all match, something similar to the Summer slam 2015 match between Seth Rollins and John Cena. 

It can be a good matchup considering that Paul is an established heel and Rhodes an established face. Logan addressed the show and said that he would be the next Undisputed WWE Champion. The US Champion took a dig at Cody and claimed that his Royal Rumble win in 2023 win meant nothing as he felt that none remember him winning. He added that the most popular moment from the event was his mid-air collision with Ricochet. 

Will Cody Rhodes be a Grand Slam Champion?

As Paul continued to boast himself, Rhodes got a chance to talk and respected Paul for his title run so far. While Paul claimed himself to be the greatest prodigy and the most improved wrestler, and the longest reigning US Champion of all time, Rhodes congratulated on his title run and praised some of his accomplishments as a wrestler in WWE so far. 

The American Nightmare added that he would emerge victorious in the King of the Ring to become a Grand Slam Champion. It is worth noting that Cody would be the Grand Slam Champion if he manages to win the US title. It could elevate him even more than he already is. On the other hand, Paul might be one of the contenders in the Money in the Bank ladder match.
