There have been many comebacks that have been made in the current Clay season of 2024. A lot of players have given some great performances and have risen in the rankings. One of these players was the Greek God and currently world number 9 player Stefanos Tsitsipas. He played some of his best tennis before this Grand Slam tournament and could be one of the potential favourites due to his record on clay.

Stefanos Tsitsipas was set to play his second-round match against Daniel Altmaier. This was also supposed to be another easy victory for Tsitsipas on the cards. The game seemed to go in that direction as the talented Greek and former Roland Garros finalist 2021 won the first two sets by margins of 6-3 and 6-2. It seemed like an easy straight victory until Altmaier came back in the third set, which was decided by a tiebreaker that favoured the German. Though Tsitsipas came back and won the game eventually in the 4th set the game still went as long as it should have been.

Tsitsipas reflects on his game

By watching this game it is easily noticeable that this was not one of Tsitsipas's flawless performances that he had shown in the past. Even after the game, Tsitsipas went on to speak on his performance and talked about what his mentality will going further into this tournament. Tsitsipas clearly stated saying " Fighting yourself. This is something that will happen during a match. You have to fight your emotions and feelings. The biggest war you have is with yourself. You have to figure that out and get it out of the way."

The World number 9 also went on to reflect on his game mentioning how he came back in the match as well saying " I was down in the score. I didn’t give up. I’ve had plenty of comebacks in the past and I’ve learned from those." Though we are yet to see one dominating performance from Tstitsipas, it is still great to see that he is looking to go forward with a never-say-die attitude that can help him even on one of the toughest surfaces in the game.
