Tennis star player Tallon Griekspoor showcased his stellar form in the second round of the Indian Wells Masters 1000 tournament as he defeated world number two and top-seeded Alexander Zverev. Notably, the Dutch star lost the first set of the game, and it appears that the 2025 Australian Open runner-up will win the game in straight sets.
Surprisingly, Tallon Griekspoor staged his comeback in the second set of the game and leveled up the match. However, the 28-year-old tennis star continued his great form, produced breathtaking shots in the game, and won the third set of the game to thwart the world number two out of the marquee event.
Notably, the star player remained focused on the game, and his resilience helped him to gain an advantage over Alexander Zverev's errors and weaknesses in the game. The star player had expressed his happiness after storming into the third round of the 1000 tournament. He is now set to face Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the next round and will be looking to dominate his game against him.
"It was such a mental thing. I played so many battles against him and had chances, but they all went his way. I am incredibly proud of myself from this performance and to get it over the line. On the flip side, Zverev, who failed to capitalize on his winning momentum after the first set of the game, acknowledged that the Dutch player played a great match, and he himself struggled to play against him. The Germanian also stated that he will look to improve further in the next game.
"I always struggle against him. He played a good match. There's no question about that. But I have to look at myself a little bit, and it's nowhere near where I want to be," Zverev said of Griekspoor.
