Tennis star Novak Djokovic is back in the gym just one week after having surgery for a meniscus injury in his right knee during the French Open. Notably, the 24-time Grand Slam champion, who lost his top spot in the world rankings to Jannik Sinner during Roland Garros 2024, gave fans an encouraging update on Friday with a video that he shared on his Instagram account.

The Serbian is seen bouncing on a half-round ball, performing footwork drills, pedalling on a fixed cycle, and finishing various resistance band exercise circuits in the video clip. Notably, the fans are excited after witnessing him in the gym as he gears up to mark his comeback at the tennis court.

The great star hasn't enjoyed the best of campaigns and is yet to bring home the title this year. Notably, the star player sustained grave injuries during the fourth round of the French Open 2024 after defeating Francisco Cerundolo. However, later, he announced that he was pulling out of the tournament before his quarterfinal game with Casper Ruud, which ended in his losing the top spot to Jannik Sinner. Meanwhile, Carlos Alcaraz went on to become the winner, which allotted him to become world number 2, while Novak slipped to third.

"In the past day, I had to make some tough decisions after sustaining a meniscus tear during my last match. I’m still processing it all but I am happy to update you that the surgery went well. I am so appreciative of the team of doctors who have been by my side, as well as the overwhelming support I have received from my fans. I’m going to do my best to be healthy and fit to return to the court as soon as possible. My love for this sport is strong and the desire to compete at the highest level is what keeps me going," Novak Djokovic said.

"I hope I can be healthy and fit and I hope I can play my best tennis because at the end of the day, who knows if I get another chance to play the Olympic games," he added further.
