Novak Djokovic manages a hard-fought victory over Jacob Fearnley in the 2nd round of Wimbledon 2024. The Serbian had to fight it out in the 4-setter to make it to round 3.

The second round of Wimbledon has already led to a lot of surprises this season and there have been a lot of players who even after injury are trying to get back to winning games and titles. One of the players who surprised everyone by making it to the main draw was the great Novak Djokovic playing in this tournament after just coming back from surgery. Nobody thought that the former World number 1 and 7-time Wimbledon champion would be able to play in the Grand Slam event this season.

Novak Djokovic despite facing a lot of problems this season has still managed to win games this tournament. He was up against Great Britains Jacob Fearnley in the 2nd round who was also coming from a straight-set victory in the first round. What was also challenging for him is that he was up against a young and fresh talent who had already impressed a lot of people going into this competition. It was interesting to see if Djokovic would continue to go through everyone in the tournament.

Djokovic achieves a hard-fought victory

This in no way was an easy match for Djokovic even though he managed to win the first two sets comfortably, he was still up for some big surprises. The 38-year-old veteran seemed to facing some problems in the match as Fearnley went on to win the third set and make this 4-set game. Fortunately for Djokovic, he managed to win the 4th set by a score of 7-5 to make sure he made it through to round 3 of the tournament. This was in no way Djokovic playing at his best at all when he struggled in his return game against an unseeded player. Djokovic even went on to give his views on the match by saying it deserved to be a five-set game as well.

This was a testing game for the 24-time Grand Slam winner and though he was not completely at his best, he has still proven that he is a tough competitor by coming back into the game in crucial times. We all hope that the Serbian goes on to keep winning going forward as he will be up against Alexei Poppyrin in the third round.
