Austrian superstar and former 2020 US Open champion Dominic Thiem experiences one of his most emotional moments in Vienna as he hangs up his racquet in from of his home crowd. We all could see the pain in the eyes as he finally lets go of the game that has given him a lot of memorable moments throughout the years.

This game might have not gone to plan as Dominic Thiem went on to lose in straight sets to Luciano Darderi and though he put up a great fight in the second set he still could not get over the line. However, the crowd at his home turf were still cheering him and made sure he got the reception he deserved in what was going to be his last game on the tennis court in professional tennis.

Thiem gets emotional as he hangs up his racquet

The last game of tennis before retirement is always a very emotional moment for a tennis player and there was a ceremony where the former World number 3 was hanging up his racquet in front of his home crowd. We could all see how emotional Thiem was as he struggled to let go of his racquet and we could see the pain in his eyes as he finally does it in the end.

This shows us how tough it is to retire from the game which you have loved for years and we will all miss the Austrian and his ruthless backhands as much as he is missing the game right now as he retires.

We all loved to see Thiem perform and it turns out that the season for players retiring in 2024 has not stopped yet. We could all feel the pain and emotion along with Thiem when he let go of his racquet which felt like he was giving up a part of his soul.
