Tennis star Daniil Medvedev has stormed into the second round of the Monte Carlo Masters tournament. The Russian star has defeated Karen Khachanov with a scoreline of 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 to storm into the Round of 32 of the ATP 1000 Masters. The 29-year-old star now has a daunting task, as he will be facing Alexandre Muller with two ATP stars aiming to seal the pre-quarter berth in this game.
Medvedev had a great start to the game, taking a lead in the first set with some exhausting and outrageous hits. However, Khachanov staged his comeback in the second set with his stellar display that highlighted some of the breathtaking shots in the game. Interestingly, the Russian didn't hold back and won the third and deciding set to storm into the second round of the marquee event.
Surprisingly, Daniil Medvedev was seen making an unusual request to his chair umpire after sealing the first-round victory in the Monte Carlo Masters. The star player did not leave the court after the win and urged the chair umpire to call for his physio. The world number 11 seems to be in extreme pain, as he was seen receiving treatments for cramps in his left thigh.

Daniil Medvedev makes an audacious claim on a clay court surface!
Meanwhile, the tennis player has recently opened up about his struggles on clay court surfaces. Daniil Medvedev stated that this clay surface court was still not his preferred surface to play the game.
"Honestly, there’s nothing I like on clay. There are always bad bounces; you’re dirty after playing. I really don’t enjoy playing on clay. Mentally I think for me the most important is going to be to know that some shots that maybe would be winners or which I would win the point on hard courts, it’s definitely not the case on clay courts. You need to do maybe three good shots, like one of which would be enough on hard courts," Daniil Medvedev said.
