Tennis star Andrey Rublev was one of the heroes of the World Tennis League, securing a resounding win for the title in Abu Dhabi. The 27-year-old tennis legend played the final thriller against Sumit Nagal and delivered a magnificent 6-2 win to win the title for his side, the Falcons. The world number eight teamed up with Denis Shapovalov, Elena Rybakina, and Caroline Garcia.

The side had finished in the first stage in the robin round stage and made it to the final thriller against the Hawks, consisting of Aryna Sabalenka, Mirra Andreeva, Sumit Nagal, and Jordan Thompson.

The Hawks were seen dominating with three straight wins in the robin round phase. However, Rublev managed to grab the win to secure the single match, taking the lead in overtime and the super shootout to claim a miraculous series win for his side, the Falcons.

After a thrilling final game, Andrey Rublev talked about his emotions during the on-court interview. When asked about his mindset during his game, the 27-year-old revealed that he tried hard to win the game. The world number eight was asked if big moments like these are the reason to play tennis to win; he came to very straightforward answers.

"To be honest, not for these moments. I play tennis to play at main tournaments, to play my best level at those events. It’s still a nice feeling. I did my best, I tried, and we were able to win, so that’s the most important thing," Andrey Rublev said.

“There is no behind-the-scenes because we didn’t spend even one minute together outside of the bench, but I know the guys really well. Since juniors, we’ve played many matches. Elena (Rybakina) and Caroline (Garcia) are super nice girls," he added further.
