In 2023, Novak Djokovic praised a young Iga Swiatek for what she had accomplished till then at the highest level in the WTA. The Serbian was in love with her devotion and dedication to the sport, and yet stayed humble at the same time. Novak loved the fact that Iga doesn't make it easy for her opponents to claim a single point in her matches.

Djokovic was asked about the Welsh in an interview in New York, where he regarded her as possessing a great fighting spirit. He noted that Swiatek had been dominating in the WTA in the past few years and that she had won multiple Grand Slam titles already at a very young age.

"Iga has been dominating the women’s game the last couple of years and is a multiple Grand Slam winner. I love her devotion and dedication. Maybe she’s too humble to say this, but she’s got a great fighting spirit. She’s a warrior, she goes out there and doesn’t give a single game," Djokovic said.

He also noted that Swiatek had handed some of the highest numbers of bagels against her opponents for a WTA star in the history of the sport. Djokovic added that he liked her champion mindset and making her opponents work for claiming points.

"Actually, she probably has the most bagels of anyone in women’s tennis over the last few years. It speaks about how seriously and professionally she’s taking every single point and game on the court. So that’s very admirable. I really like that kind of champion spirit and mindset," Djokovic added.
