World number 12 Stefanos Tsitsipas was unhappy about the ATP's decision to extend the ATP Masters 1000 tournaments to 2 weeks. The Greek number 1 says that the extended schedule for the tournaments has turned them into a drag and the players have been facing difficulties with less recovery during the season.
The ATP has faced a lot of criticism recently due to many big issues such as schedule problems and players facing injuries. The 2024 season has been very long and some players and experts have discussed the problems they have been facing in every tournament they have played so far. The extended schedule for the ATP 1000 Masters has also been another problem that some people have been worried about as well.
Tsitsipas unhappy with the extended tournaments
The ATP has decided to extend the ATP Masters 1000 to two weeks which has been a problem for most of the players. One of the players who has shown opposition towards this decision is World number 12 Stefanos Tsitsipas who was unhappy with this decision and has even discussed the problems as well on social media where he gave a statement saying " The two-week Masters 1000s have turned into a drag. The quality has definitely dropped, Players aren’t getting the recovery or training time they need, with constant matches and no space for the intense work off the court."
There might be some people who would have a problem with Tsitsipas's statement saying that he is taking out frustration after a horrible 2024 season, but in the end, we have to agree with some of the things he is saying and the problems the players have been facing as well. The 2-week ATP tournaments have really put a toll on the players and this has really been a problem all the players have been facing.
