Sumit Nagal makes history after qualifying for main draw of French Open

There have been many Indian Tennis players who have made a massive difference in the game, the likes of Rohan Bopanna, Mahesh Bhupathi, Leander Paes and Sania Mirza are some of the legends we recognize today. These people are the pioneers of Indian tennis who have built a legacy in the game for the next generation of Indian players. There have been plenty of young players who are coming up the ATP ranks as well, especially in the singles.

The one player who has been achieving some big things in Tennis right now is 25-year-old upcoming talent, Sumit Nagal. Nagal has not only made it into the top 100 ATP rankings, but he has also gone on to qualify for big tournaments and has had a promising 2024 season so far. Nagal is one of the few Indian players to qualify for the Australian Open and win against seeded players such as Alexander Bublik in ATP tournaments.

Nagal qualifies for Roland Garros

Nagal has come back from a decent Monte Carlo season where he qualified for the second round after beating another seeded player Matteo Arnaldi. He also showed some great talent against top 10 ranked player Holger Rune as well. However, the great achievements are still not over for Nagal as he went on to create more history as he made it onto the main draw of the upcoming French Open. He is now the second Indian after Prajnesh Gunneswaran to achieve this feat.

This has been a great performance by an Indian player in a singles tournament. There is still a long way to go for Nagal to achieve big and major wins in the tournament, but this has been a season where he has gone on to give some great performances. Nagal will be looking to give his best performance in this upcoming grand slam tournament and will once again have a chance to play against the best players in the world.
