Tennis star Jack Draper received his third stroke of luck at the Stuttgart Boss Open on Sunday. Notably, the sixth-seeded British player defeated Italian two-time champion Matteo Berrettini 3-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4 on Sunday to win his first-ever ATP title at the Stuttgart Open trophy at the Tennis Club of Stuttgart. Speaking about the game here, Draper, ranked No. 40, beat American Marcos Giron (6-4, 3-6, 6-3), Frances Tiafoe (6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 (1)), Austrian Sebastian Ofner (7-6 (4), 7-6 (5)), and American Brandon Nakashima (6-3, 6-3).

German Roman Safiullin, the eighth seed (7-6 (8), 5-7, 7-5), Canadian wildcard Denis Shapovalov (6-4, 6-4), Australian qualifier James Duckworth (6-4, 7-5), and No. 5 seed Lorenzo Musetti (6-4, 6-0) were all defeated by No. 95 Berrettini in the earlier rounds of the Stuttgart event. Notably, Jack Draper fell behind Italian Matteo Berrettini, the tournament's two-time winner, 6-3 in the opening set. However, the 22-year-old Brit returned to win the second set tiebreak and the third set decider, earning him his first ATP Tour title.

Speaking about the game here, both players maintained serve the entire time, with Draper missing two set-point opportunities at 5-4.  Berrettini's superb serving and power enabled him to win the first set 6-3. After overcoming that stretch, Berrettini wasted two break-point opportunities himself at 5-5; however, Draper displayed bravery to win the 7-5 tie-break and force the final game. However, Draper produced the crucial break of the match, winning and holding serve twice in this manner.

This one is gonna hurt a little bit: Draper

The 22-year-old had previously advanced to the final of an ATP 250 event twice, losing to Jiri Lehecka of the Czech Republic at the Adelaide International in January and to Frenchman Adrian Mannarino at the Sofia Open in November 2023. With two victories at the Stuttgart Open and five on grass, Berrettini now holds eight ATP Tour titles in his career.

“It was a really tough match. I’m really happy to win my first title, it means so much to me. This one is gonna hurt a little bit," Draper said after the match.
