The Playoffs of the Roland Garros are still going on and we are on the last day of the quarter-finals this season. This has been a season to remember for its great matches and shocking results. After all, this is the Clay season finale and a Grand Slam tournament featuring some of the best players in the world. It has been a great few playoff games that we have witnessed so far and we are looking forward to the semis and the final matches.

The last and final quarter-final game in the Women's singles was between World number 2 Aryna Sabalenka and young and upcoming Mirra Andreeva. Though Sabalenka was the favorite in this game, it was still great to see the young 17-year-old Andreeva play her first playoff game in Grand Slams. The young Russian had already made the headlines after beating Victoria Azarenka in the tournament, but this time she was up against an in-form Sabalenka.

Sabalenka gets her first surprise this season

Aryna Sabalenka was one of the favourites to win this tournament and had a great Clay season. Undoubtedly, Andreeva was a talented prospect, but the odds were still against her. Going into the first set it was looking like Saba Lenka's game, unfortunately, The Belarusian was facing some uneasiness during the match. Though Sabalenka still managed to win the set by a tiebreaker, she was still not looking a hundred per cent on the court. This was visible in the next two sets as well as the Russian took the sets winning 6 games to 4. This was another surprising result we got to witness in the tournament.

Though this was not a complete fit  Aryna Sabalenka, it was still a great performance from Andreeva who proved herself on the day. Sabalenka on the other still tried her best and still managed to give a great fight even when she was not completely healthy during the game. It was still a great game and a great moment for Mirra Andreeva who will be playing her first semi-finals against another higher-seeded player Jasmine Paolini. It will be interesting to see how far she can take her form in this tournament.
