The day when we finally saw the king of clay arrive on the big stage in Barcelona is one of the greatest moments in tennis. Rafael Nadal is not only one of the biggest legends in Tennis but also the best player on clay anyone has ever witnessed. El Nino as usual came back into the tournament with a winning start against Flavio Cobolli in two straight sets to mark his homecoming comeback.

However, the challenge is still not over for El Nino as this time he was up against a worthy opponent in Alex de Minaur who is an 11th-ranked ATP player and has 8 ATP singles titles to his name. Knowing the Australian's ability to cover the whole court with his amazing speed and agility, it could have been a big challenge for Nadal who has not been active for a long time in the game. This was really a testing moment for the king making his comeback after over 600 days.

De Minaur causes another upset

The match started in surprising fashion as Alex de Minaur went on to win the first set by 7-5 by breaking Nadal’s serve. This was really a shocking moment for all the tennis fans who saw their hero start the game in this fashion. This really set up another potential upset in the tournament. The second set was an even bigger shock as it marked the end of the king of clay as de Minaur went on to win the set 6-1 to through to the next round.

This was perhaps the biggest upset of the tournament so it was one of the disappointing matches for the 22-time grand slam winner. Even though the fans will be disappointed that their hero will not be featuring in the tournament any further, we have to admire the performance of Alex de Minaur who has managed to achieve one of the rarest feats of beating the Spaniard on clay.
