The tennis world is eagerly awaiting the blockbuster clash between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon 2024 men’s singles final on Sunday (July 14). The 24-time Grand Slam champion facing the 22-year-old budding superstar was expected to be a crowd puller, and now skyrocketing ticket prices have proved it. 

Fans hoping to snap up tickets at the last minute are likely to be in for a shock when they notice the astronomical ticket prices for the epic final. American sports commentator and business analyst Darren Rovell took to his social media to reveal the staggering figures that will go down in history as the "most expensive" tickets in sports history.

"Djokovic-Alcaraz Wimbledon Final will be the most expensive get-in finals tickets in the history of sports. Right now, WORST SEAT for Sunday is more than $10,000,” Rovell wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Meanwhile, Kyle Zorn, content strategy lead at TickPick, a New York-based ticket-selling website, revealed that ticket prices for the upcoming final have been recorded as the most expensive for a sporting event on their platform.

“The cheapest ticket on @TickPick to see Djokovic-Alcaraz in the Wimbledon Final is $10,600. That is the most expensive get-in for a sporting event on record at TickPick,” Zorn posted on X.

The upcoming clash will be a repeat of the 2023 final. However, if the outcome is also going to be the same, then Alcaraz will retain his title and bag his fourth Grand Slam title. On the other hand, if Djokovic wins, it will be the Serbian's eighth Wimbledon title - a record equal to that of the legendary Roger Federer.

Moreover, it will mark Djokovic's 25th career Grand Slam and surpass Margaret Court to become the first tennis player on the planet to achieve this huge milestone.
