Some talented players in the USA have gone on to win some big tournaments. The names of Serena Williams and Andre Agassi also come to mind who have won multiple Grand Slams in their entire career. These are the players that have put American tennis on the map.

One of the upcoming talents in the USA is Frances Tiafoe, the last player to enter the top 10 rankings of the tournament. Unfortunately, it has not really been a great season so far for Tiafoe as he has not been winning many titles and has been playing some disappointing tennis off late. Though he managed to win his first-round game in Wimbledon, it was not the most flawless victory we have ever seen.

Frances speaks about his poor form

The game against Matteo Arnaldi might have resulted in favour of Tiafoe though he managed a great comeback after initially being 2 sets behind. We could see that he was not at his dominant best at all. During the press conference, Tiafoe even went ahead and spoke on this matter saying " It’s brutal. Highs and lows. Think about where I’m at. Literally, this week last year, I was 10 in the world, and now I’m barely seeded here. Losing to clowns, I hate to say it, but I’m just gonna be honest "

This statement is what caused a lot of drama. There is no doubt that he was being honest about his form and how much he has struggled, but it was slightly condescending to refer to your opponents in the game as clowns. This was a display of poor sportsman spirit shown by Tiafoe during the interview, which should have been phrased a different way.
