The clay season has been all about comebacks from various players who want to get back on track. The return of Rafael Nadal in the Barcelona Open was a great moment for the fans as they finally saw the king of clay back on the tennis court. We have also seen the Greek God Stefanos Tsitsipas make his way into the top 10 after two great tournaments in the Monte Carlo Masters and the Barcelona Open.

In the moments of these comebacks, there is another comeback story that also awaits us. It is Carlos Alcaraz who after the Miami Open has been out of the game for a couple of months due to an arm injury. The fans were hoping that the world number 3 can finally come back from his injury and defend his Madrid crown which he has held for two years now. This could be the moment when the Spaniard can finally come back.

Alcaraz on injury and playing in Madrid

The two-time Grand Slam champion was already named in the draw, but there were still speculations on whether he would play or not since he also had doubts about playing the tournament. However, the 20-year-old world-class player has opened up on his injury and plans to play in Madrid saying “I have already trained in Madrid, I have felt good feelings and I think we are on the right track. Judging by these feelings, I think I will be able to be in the tournament.” 

This says that Alcaraz will be looking to play the tournament and has even brought aspirations of playing the final against Rafael Nadal who has also made a comeback from a devastating injury. It is great to see that both the best players on clay will be featuring in this tournament and will look to win the Madrid crown. This is surely going to be another cracking ATP 1000 masters among one of the best in the world.
