Tennis sensation and world number one Jannik Sinner has pulled out from the forthcoming ATP 500 tournament in Rotterdam, where the Italian star was set to defend his title this time. This decision comes after his latest win at the 2025 Australian Open, where he defeated world number two Alexander Zverev to win his third Grand Slam title and second Melbourne title. The 23-year-old tennis star has cited the reason that he is in a need for rest and recovery following a gruelling tournament in Melbourne Park as his major reason for his withdrawal.

Undoubtedly, Jannik Sinner's absence in the forthcoming 500 tournament will allow sensational player Carlos Alcaraz, who recently lost in the quarterfinals to Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open, to take the top seed position at the Rotterdam event. In addition, the Spaniard poses the great chance to grab the title this time in the absence of the Australian Open 2025 winner.

Other notable players who are also expected to participate include Daniil Medvedev, Alex de Minaur, and Andrey Rublev. In addition, Grigor Dimitrov has also withdrawn due to injury, resulting in Jakub Mensik and Roberto Bautista Agut entering the main draw.

My body needs time to rest after the long run in Australia: Jannik Sinner

"After consulting with my team, we had to take the difficult decision to withdraw from the ABN AMRO Open,” said Sinner. “My body needs time to rest after the long run in Australia. I have great memories from winning the title in front of amazing crowds at Rotterdam Ahoy last year and hope to be back there soon. I wish [tournament director] Richard [Krajicek] and the whole team a great event."

Several players were seen struggling in the first Grand Slam of the year and faced crushing defeats. However, the ABN AMRO Open sets to provide a great chance for many individuals to find their form to boost their ATP rankings.
