The Munich Open is also down to its last two finalists and has once again been a tournament filled with some dramatic matches. The time has come that we see new and fresh people in the final after defending champion Holger Rune and home favourite Alexander Zverev’s departure. This has been a tournament that has exceeded expectations immensely.

The match was set with upcoming American player Taylor Fritz and new homeground hero Jan Lennard Struff. This is the game to watch out for with Fritz being the upcoming potential who has been performing well and Stuff just about finding his feet in the singles category. This was Fritz’s first Munich Open final and on the other hand the 33-year-old Struff had made it into the finals once back in 2021. This was a contest everyone was looking forward to.

Struff wins first ATP singles title

Even after Struffs incredible performances in the tournament Fritz was still a clear favourite seeing his form in the last few seasons. However, Struff managed to be the first one to get a set over his opponent as he broke the service of Taylor Fritz in the first set winning 7 games to 5. This had already put the young 26-year-old American under pressure in the game. Struff took advantage of that and went on to dominate the second set completely and win the final match.

This was the first ATP singles title for the German who was known majorly for his performances in doubles. He has also proven to everyone that with age also comes experience and went on to win the game against a young and fresh player in Fritz. This is definitely a moment to rejoice for Struff who has had probably the best tournament he has ever played as a singles player. It is an even better moment that he has gone on to achieve this feat in his home ground as well which is always a great feeling.
