WTA tennis legend Billie Jean King supports British superstar Emma Raducanu ahead of the Billie Jean King Cup Finals saying that we have to be patient with her amidst her injury concerns and it takes a lot to come back from injury. Some supportive words from the legend herself which will give the young star a lot of confidence.

The era of British tennis has seen a lot of young stars emerging out of nowhere especially in the current era. The player who has been the most surprising was Emma Raducanu. Though she has been missing most of the season due to her injuries, she has still managed to come up the rankings coming closer to the top 50. The 22-year-old prodigy will be seen in the Billie Jean King Cup Finals where she will be representing Great Britain.

Billie Jean King defends Raducanu

There have been a lot of people criticising raducanu for her lack of fitness and which has played a big role her missing most of the 2024 season as well. There are also some people saying that she has not been taking the game seriously at all. However, former tennis legend Billie Jean King has gone on to defend Raducanu saying " If she can stay healthy long enough, then we’ll see how good she is, But if you keep getting injured, you never get that momentum going. If you’ve been injured – really injured – I always want to give a player at least a year and a half to recover. It takes a lot to come back from injury and you have got to be very patient.”

These are some supportive words from the legend and it makes a lot of sense since Raducanu has been suffering from some serious injuries since last year and instead of unfairly criticising her everyone should give her some time to get back to her best in the upcoming seasons.
