‘I only play with clean players’- Nick Kyrgios fires at Jannik sinner over doping

Jannik Sinner was found using a prohibited substance and was called by ITIA for his explanation. After that Jannik was given clearance by the independent body.

The world Number 1 Jannik Sinner was caught in doping as he tested positive for clostebol twice. He was taken for enquiry and was cleared of the doping case without any ban. Australian tennis player  Nick Kyrgios took a dig at Jannik Sinner many times and this time he ignited the flame.

Nick Re-ignites the flame

During an Instagram Q&A, Nick Kyrgioswas asked whether he would play tennis doubles with Sinner and Nick took a cheeky dig at the Italian saying “I only play with clean players.” In March 2024, the Italian was found to have used prohibited substances by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA). A month after sinner won the US Open championship.

When the news came out about sinners doping tennis player and commentator Nick Kyrgios was the first to react and he asked for a ban. After hearing ITIA's decision to give sinner clearance  Nick Kyrgios blasted at them by saying “Ridiculous-Whether it was accidental or planned. You get tested twice with a banned substance (Steroid)... You should be gone for two years. Your performance was enhanced. Massage cream…. Yeah, nice.”

Last week WADA (World Anti Doping Agency appealed to the court seeking a ban of up to 2 years for sinner. Kyrgios also wrote a tweet “Why he is still playing. I think he had it on his terms for most of the time. I don't think that fair and equal for the rest of the tours.”

Jannik Sinner was also asked about Kyrgio's comments and he said anybody can talk about anything it's a free world and we have freedom of speech.” Even Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz talked about the case. Djokovic said “I think its quite obvious that we have a system that is not working well. There are too many inconsistencies. Way too many governing bodies involved. Just this whole case is not helping our sport at all.”
