Ruud, who aimed to win his 13th ATP title, endured a challenging game against his opponent in the semi-finals, who seemed to be a big threat. After winning the first set of the game, Ruud appeared on track for a straight sets win. However, Munar staged his comeback in the second set and levelled the game with a commanding 6-2 win of his own in the game.

However, the third and final set of the game was a nail-biting affair. Munar had a great chance to serve for the game in the 10th match, but the 26-year-old showcased his beast form, kept resilience, and hit powerful groundstrokes, breaking back to level at 5-5. The two-star players then went head-to-head in an enthralling tiebreaker.

What are the head-to-head records between Ruud and Munar?

In this tiebreaker game, Ruud was seen taking control with stunning backhand shots in the game down the line to lead 4-2. This victory marks Ruud's fourth win over Munar, who now trails 1-4 in their all-time head-to-head record.

“Second and third set (Munar) really stepped it up. He kind of fired up, I played a little bit of a poor game. I went for a little too much, the right play but just made unforced errors. Some really close games in the third. You can get tight. You kind of see the finish line a few yards in front of you and then you kind of stumble. I know what the feeling is like. I’ve done it myself and I was fortunate to be on the right side of it today," Ruud said.
